Wrap Up of 2011 and Welcome 2012

2011 has been a momentous year for a number of reasons in our family. Last year we made the resolution to take things slower and have more time for us as a family. At the start of the year this looked a bit fraught but we persisted and now ending the year, we can say that we've rejigged our careers and are well on our way to fulfilling this resolution. Both DH and I are working part-time and both of us are now pursuing avenues closer to our passions. Yours truly's passion being all things knitting! Our DD1 completed his first year in Kindy with great enthusiasm and pleasure. Our youngest DD2 (3 years old) is growing so fast and is imitating everything DD1 does.

In terms of knitting, this year was the first year of being more adventurous and also doing my own designs. Here is a gallery of a few of the finished objects done this year. I've lost count of the number which I think is probably around 35.

May this be a wonderful healthy, happy, love-filled year for everyone!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! May 2012 be a year of much happiness, laughter, good health, love and of course, lots of knitting!

Late in December we welcomed a little baby boy, Antonio into our extended family. I knitted this little hat below on the car trip coming back up from seeing our family in the South West for him. Antonio's hat is inspired by Dr Seuss to add a bit of fun and warmth to this beautiful addition to our family.

Big Ted was kind enough to model the hat. Unfortunately his head is not quite the right size!

All the very best wishes for a fabulous, happy and healthy 2012!

So Over Coasters...

One more coaster set to go before Christmas (doing the red, white and blue beer coasters for my dad). Or more precisely 2 and a bit more coasters to knit and the finishing up on 6 to go. So that is a grand total of about 10 sets of coasters this Christmas. Very useful quick things to do between others but very keen now to get stuck into something different! :-) Wonder what next year's Christmas gift of choice will be....

Merry Christmas to you and happy knitting!

Variation on a theme...

Another quick coaster...a variance on the Blue Romance ones below done in 8ply Bendigo Cotton. As you can see still blocking and drying but hopefully should be ready for tomorrow!  I think I like the definition and general feel better on these.

Another quickie Christmas gift

Hi everyone,

Another quick lace Christmas gift finished. This little lace pattern was done with Cleckheaton Bamboo and came out beautifully with shimmers a little. Only about 4 more gifts to go!

What are you knitting for Christmas?

Christmas Knitting

Hi everyone,

It's the last minute rush for Christmas presents (due this Sunday for early Christmas lunch) and I'm frantically trying to finish a number of gifts yet. I really relate to the Yarn Harlot's most recent post! Here is the latest addition to the pile using Erica Patberg's Color Wheel pattern. These are for a more masculine take on the coaster theme entitled Red,White and Blue Colour Wheel Coasters.

Happy Christmas knitting!
